Love Actually directed by Richard Curtis

Love Actually
I would have to say that we all have our guilty pleasures, and one of mine is the well written British romantic comedy. One of my favorites is Four Weddings and A Funeral which happened to be written by Love Actually’s writer and director, Richard Curtis. So when i spotted Love Actually on one of my cable movie channels i quickly added it to my Tivo to do list and got around to watching it tonight.

Needless to say, the fact that the movie spans the four weeks leading up to Christmas helped a little bit, but what really made it for me was the sharp writing and the way that Richard Curtis successfully managed to intertwine so many storylines and to surprisingly get them to come to a successful finale. All that and a cast that would make Altman proud: Colin Firth, Liam Neeson, Emma Thompson, Heike Makatsch, Keira Knightley, Hugh Grant, Laura Linney, Alan Rickman, Lucia Moniz, Billy Bob Thornton, Rowan Atkinson, Ivana Milicevic, January Jones, Elisha Cuthbert, Claudia Schiffer, Shannon Elizabeth, Denise Richards.

All I can say is this is a movie worth seeing, especially with a significant other on a comfy couch, during the month of december leading up to Christmas, and if you can swing it a fire in the fireplace. Yeah the feel good sacharine movie can sometimes feel good, actually…
